Don't try to be a smart ass, if you don't have any fucking clue. It is indeed Death Metal - Melodic Death Metal to be exact.
However, I agree that the music is by far more important than the tag you put on it.

I think the fact that they sound just like At the Gates with break downs sets them pretty squarely in the domain of Death Metal.
Go listen to "The Blackest Incarnation". There's a pretty fucking heavy song. I don't care what genre you claim it to be.
